Hi! I have been sewing for 40 years and making custom quilts for 12 years. The first t-shirt quilt I made from all of my own tennis t-shirts that I had earned or collected. After that I just got hooked and started making more for fun.
My local tennis magazine published a blurb about my t-shirts quilts. The rest, as they say, is history! From that I got a bunch of inquires and my very first orders.
I like that the t-shirts are being re-purposed from a piece of clothing that you wear, to a whole new purpose as a warm quilt your can bundle up in, or a work of art that you can hang up on your wall. Re-purposing helps our environment by keeping those reuseable items out of landfills.
Most importantly, each t-shirt has a special story behind it that tells how it was acquired and, why, after all these years, it is still around. It’s always a pleasure to hear the story behind the shirts.
On a personal note I am married and have 2 adult children. I am an Army brat, one of 5 children, graduated from high school in Munich, Germany, and have traveled extensively across Europe. I’m a musician and while playing at resorts in the Austrian Alps with a Latin band I dreamed of being the world’s next famous jazz flutist and making a living playing music. Well… that didn’t happen !
So…after college and a business career (BSBA) I switched gears to become a RN (BSN). I pivoted again to where today I am now a full time small business owner creating special masterpieces in the form of quilts.
From being a health care provider, I know all about tender loving care and pampering and taking care of that which is special to you. So trust me with your t-shirts. They’ll be in good hands.
