Looking out the Window
Maybe you’d like something a little different. We start with design and can create your quilt any way that you want. The colors, the fabrics, the look is all up to you. With all of the choices, just how do you narrow it down? Look at pictures. Think if you have a certain color scheme you’d like to match or a certain place where you’d like your quilt to go. Our creation will be tailored to what works best for you. You may want to put it on a wall, or just use as a throw on the sofa. Maybe you need it to go on a bed. These decisions are all very important. They’re your treasured shirts. Once they’re sewn, they’re sewn so put a lot of thought in to what look you will like the best. We’ll listen and then come up with something for your approval that we think you’ll really like.
This look is Windowpanes. The symmetry of the squares all the same size imparts sameness and structure. Blue fabrics around them are arranged for an artsy 3-D effect so that when you look at it straight on it appears as if you’re looking out of a window. This is one of 3 for an attorney. Her collection includes her favorite bands, sports teams, clubs, and politicians she worked for. There’s a Jerry Garcia shirt in the middle from one of his last appearances with Grateful Dead.
You can always still wear the shirts, just in a different way!
She used a special piece of blue cotton for her back. She had had it a long time, really liked it, and wanted to reuse it for her quilt. So we did. This involves careful measuring to make sure that the back will fit the front. It had some discoloration on it, but she was ok with it. From time the cotton was really soft and overall in great condition. It’s great to be able to include all of the memories on the front and also the back.
The quilting was done in a metallic thread. She liked the way that it shimmered in the stars used in her quilting design. The binding goes all around the outside edge and for that she continued her blues in a navy dot print. Everything came together nicely.
