New Land Line

Hard to believe I added an old-fashioned land line, but I did.  Was looking around for faster internet and what do you know — a package deal — internet and phone and cable. Passed on the cable. Local “free” channels work just fine.  News and public television, documentaries and travel shows.  That’s all I need.  Ok, I admit sometimes I listen to Cheaters and Jerry Springer.  I find them pretty entertaining but not very believable.  I mean… R E A L L Y?    Listen to the morning shows, too, like “the Doctors”, “View”, Good Morning, Good Day,  and the Antique Roadshow type shows.  I say “listen to” because I’m not really watching it.  One or the other– TV or I-tunes– is always background noise while I’m working.   It’s like when I was in college. Were you like this? I could NOT study in the library. It was too quiet. You can hear people whispering, breathing, dropping stuff. Because it was quiet, the little sounds were loud and so distracting.  For serious studying it was the school cafeteria. It was noisy. Very noisy. White noisy. So much of it you couldn’t make out anything.  It was just like a dull roar all the time.

Anyway back to the package deal.  Definitely needed the faster internet. A lot of  photo up and downloads are done to the customer progress pages. The additional speed is really saving some time. The land line makes sense as I am available and in the studio a good part of the day.  Time will tell though if it will work over time.  The first week was not fun as every marketer in the world called trying to sell me something. I added the new number to the Do Not Call list. Finally those calls dissipated.

When not in the studio I have to remember to forward the land line to my cell for instance.   Think I fixed that by going onto the website and changing my settings.  What I really need is one cell phone where I can answer and manage 2 different numbers: home and business. Looked at Google Voice it didn’t seem to be the complete answer, but wow what a lot of free services.    I really don’t want to carry 2 phones around but with the Iphone you’d have to have 2 of those SIM cards I think. I don’t think a 2 SIM card phone is invented yet.   Doesn’t hurt to dream.  Yes, it’s really 4:30 in the morning.  Guess I’ll get started.  ZZZZzzz
