Get On and Go Riding

Summer time is a great time for a road trip. Our new cover features Ron and Gigi participating in a group ride. Their keepsake quilt inspired by their passion.

In this style, the t-shirts are touching, there is no fabric added around the shirts which let’s you get more shirts on one side of a quilt. A flame fabric was selected for the border and also used for the quilting pattern.

We worked closely together to craft Ron’s motorcycle masterpiece and would like to do the same for you. We have the talent, time, and passion to make your vision a reality.

We’ll be at 2 upcoming Harley shows: Harley Davidson of Atlanta August 19  and Killer Creek Harley Davidson in Alpharetta August 20. We’re donating 2 black and orange motorcycle quilts to the raffles. Come on out!

Born to Run

July 4th John is running his 40th Peachtree Road Race.  Shown is the quilt we created for his birthday from wife, Sally. In 2010 John was injured. While his daughter had run the same race and also had the 2010 shirt, Sally really didn’t want to use a shirt that John hadn’t earned in his quilt. So we got creative and filled the space with a disability graphic and “Out of Commission 2010”to represent the year he was injured. It’s shown on the bottom row.

Sally chose running shoes as the quilting pattern, a patriotic fabric for her border, and a personalized label for the front and the back.

You worked hard for them.  Trust us with your shirts.

Wesleyan Quilt

Congratulations to all of the recent high school graduates! Cullen, is shown on our cover with his unique graduation present – a t-shirt quilt loaded with high school memories. It includes shirts from sports he was active in: wrestling, basketball, tennis; and, who can forget the school mascot– a wolf along with some wolf paws.  Note, too, the age progression in photos from K (at the top) through 12 (at the bottom) completes the masterpiece. Cullen aspires to be an attorney and it was great working with Mom, Angie, attorney, and awesome role model for success !

Project Management

We recently completed a complex project for Alison, a designer.  It required 5 of us to complete a full restoration on 2 pillows for her father in Florida. He has had these since college. Together, we did it: an artist, a hand sewer, a hand embroiderer, a precision machine sewer, a project manager and, of course, Alison.

I found this online shortly after we finished this. It resonated with me as a fitting definition of Project Management (PM).

The main objectives and principles behind good project management are as follows:

  • Agree exactly what a project is meant to do and what it is meant to deliver.
  • Agree on the scope, timescales, cost and quality of a project.
  • Maintain a schedule and project plan.
  • Deliver the agreed outcomes of the project to the right scope, timescales, cost and quality.
  • Provide communications, reports and progress updates throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Manage risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Make sure that the customer gets the outcome that it wants from the project.
  • Manage policies, processes, tools, frameworks, techniques, people and relationships to a successful project outcome.
  • Minimize any impact on normal business operations.
    (Source https://toughnickel.com/misc/project-management-main-objectives)

What did it mean for Alison, or for you?  It means that when we start on any project for you, the above  principles are incorporated like this:

  • Time is spent to fully understand what you want. The overall scope is agreed upon by both parties.
  • A timeline is created based on your needs.
  • You receive regular updates illustrating progress and scope. You’re informed if changes are needed. Everyone knows their role and what they need to do to reach a successful outcome.
  • More than one person is always involved in working on your project. Sure, perhaps one person, can do it, but a higher level of quality is obtained with a team approach and the inherent checks and balances appreciated within the broader definition of co-dependency: dependence on the needs of another.

We depend on each other, so that you can depend on us.

Graduation 2017

If you are thinking of giving a quilt as a graduation gift,  don’t delay, TODAY IS THE DAY ! If we may, allow us to ask for your order sooner versus later.  This way your special gift will be ready in accordance with your plans and when you really need it.  We have been working on early graduation orders since January. May is also Mother’s Day.

It’s an honor to do work for you, just don’t forget, it has to be made.  And, the closer it gets to May, reluctantly we have to then start suggesting how about Christmas, birthday, or another special occasion after May! Thus, getting your order to us by March 31 would be wonderful!

Sincere thanks if we have the privilege of working on your order already. It’s truly a pleasure.

Wide Backs

We now have a small selection of solid wide back fabrics available in house.  The wide back is used to cover the back of your quilt if we are making a t-shirt or other custom quilt for you. For t-shirt quilts, the price is already included in the base price so if  you’d like one of these you just pick out a color and let us know. If you have made your own quilt, Studio E 108″ premium cotton backs are available for $15.98/yd when we are providing digital or free motion  long arm quilting for you.

The Making of a Hockey Quilt

Happy New Year!  For the man cave!  It’s massive.  It ended up being the largest quilt we’ve ever done, but with lots of planning finished it in time for Christmas and shipped it off to Colorado for a surprise gift for an all star hockey player.  Have jerseys?  Need customizations? We have the talent, space, and time and are ready, willing, and able to create something fabulous for you like this. Click on the pictures to scroll through how we did it!  Then find them all. Those you’ve retired can be worn again!  Once you get your hands on them call us 678-324-8084.

Holidays 2016

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.  We sincerely appreciate all of you that we’ve had the pleasure to work with in 2016.  Thanks so much for trusting us to create something special for you.

If you are considering having us work for you,  do know that we aim to please and are continually looking for ways to improve and provide the very best work possible for you. To that end, in 2016, we now have 2 artists working with us during the design and prep phase of getting your project started.  We have a seamstress that has 35+ years of professional home decor sewing experience.  We invested in new hardware — a bobbin camera to see live how the quilting is looking on the back of your quilt as it’s being quilted. We moved ! Our new location is just right for meeting with you and getting the work done to finish your project.

Know that a team is behind your project and that we’ll try very hard to exceed your expectations.   Satisfying you is a priority, and we’ll work closely with you to make you happy and deliver quality work that you can be proud of.

Presently, we’re taking a short break after the busy holiday season. We re-open January 3rd and look forward to the chance to exceed your expectations in the New Year.  Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2017 !

Race Numbers

If you have race numbers, you could make a quilt out of just the numbers if you want.   We take the time to prepare them professionally so that they won’t fade or bleed; and, once sewn into your quilt will last a long, long time.  The shirts earned from running all these races, plus the race numbers, will be going into a very memorable running quilt — with 2 more just like it to follow.  (She runs A LOT!)   Actually, in addition to the race numbers and the shirts, we can include anything else we can sew down — patches, hats, windbreakers.  It’s a great way to preserve all of your memories!   Also makes a thoughtful gift for children or family members that run, too!
