Quilts for Veterans

This quilt was made for a Marine veteran entirely from his uniforms. He put some thought in to how he wanted it to look and created a mockup on the computer.  We started with this  and arranged the khakis, dress coats, and hats following his design. These all made the top of the quilt. The back is a soft minky. Minky is 100% polyester and popular because of the softness of it. It also comes in a lot of colors.

The quilting holds all 3 layers together. This design is very elegant done in gold thread with a regal eagle repeated across the quilt. He wanted the red as the binding to add a pop of color so that goes all around the outside edge and shows on both sides. The binding seals the raw edges after the quilting is finished giving the quilt a clean edge. It shows on both sides and is an opportunity to add a pop of color, like red, if desired. 

Also in progress an army quilt in memory of a son that unfortunately lost his life to violence at home in the U.S. This was commissioned by the Mom of the service man in his memory. The quilting on this one is hearts.

The Algiers Marine pic is part of a quilt in progress. There are so many interesting fabrics, patterns, and textures on this one from his travels while working for the American embassies abroad. We’ll be sure to post the finished picture.
