Road Trip ! Don’t forget the quilt!

If you’re traveling this holiday season, we wish you safe travels.

Don’t forget the quilt ! It’s great for snuggling up with the memories as you travel through different climates. If you’re heading north, that special quilt can add warmth going in to the colder areas especially if there’s snow! Going down south you may still need it in the car if your better half has the air cranked all the way up!

Stopping for a break on the way, our quilts are fully washable. It’s fine to lay your quilt out on the ground and have an impromptu picnic without having to worry about spills or scuffs. If needed, when you’re ready just throw it in a large non-agitating machine, delicate with cold water, mild detergent, and tumble dry on low heat and you’re good to go!

It’s also great for the beach and can be a conversation starter with other beachgoers as they admire your masterpiece and want to know more of the story. Then, when beach time is over, just shake off the sand and hang it to dry if you have a place. We were actually at a motel once that had a clothesline that we used for just this purpose. If you’re in a car and it’s still a little damp, you can also drape it across the inside of the car at nighttime.

Yes, take it to the outdoor concert. You’re prepared if it gets cool. You now have “seating” and don’t need chairs. Your t-shirt quilt can be a great conversation starter with others also attending the concert.

Another reason to take your quilt on a road trip, maybe you’re spending the night in a hotel and it’s time for bed. Your better half likes it cold and you like it warm. The quilt can provide that extra layer for you and avert a late night argument and help you get some sleep.

This is a Harley t-shirt quilt that we made for a customer from shirts saved from their biker travels around the world. If you collect, over time you’ll have all of the raw materials needed to make an amazing quilt. Call us when you’re ready 678-324-8084.

If you have a zillion shirts, like a lot of bikers, the hard part can then be narrowing it down just what to include in the quilt. It helps to go through and mark the sides you want “in” with a safety pin. I smile when people come in with a big bag and think they have too many t-shirts. The most we’ve included on one side of a quilt was in the vicinity of 110 shirts for a cheerleader! Plus, the back was more cheerleading t-shirts. If, however, you want to take the quilt on the bike you may have to scale down to a quilt made from 10 or so shirts and save the rest for a big quilt !

I personally love road trips and being able to stop, see the country, and explore along the way. In my dreams we’re in a big RV with a sewing machine in the back!

Safe travels if you’re driving. If the quilt won’t fit on the bike, you just may have to take the sportscar!

Just don’t forget to put it inside the trunk !
